Things to Do in Barbados
Barbados is a dynamic island with plenty to keep you busy no matter how long you stay.
Activities
For golfers the Royal Westmoreland, Sandy Lane and and Barbados Golf Club courses present world renowned challenges in glorious surroundings. Not got time for 18 holes try the Old Nine course adjacent to Sandy Lane Estate. You can play 9 holes and be back at Saramanda in time for breakfast and a dip in the pool.
If it’s a spot of tennis you are after, courts are available (through Sandy Lane Hotel) 5 minutes walk away.
Water sports may be enjoyed a short stroll along the Sandy Lane Property Owners Beach; facilities include water skiing, wakeboarding and the famous ‘Mabel’ rides.
Go day sailing on a catamaran, scuba diving, or perhaps a Barbados island excursion, and visit the Barbados Wildlife Reserve…
Nightlife
Barbados nightclubs are mainly located in the St Lawrence Gap area but if you are in Bridgetown the Boatyard and harbour lights provide great entertainment for 18 – 25year olds. Close to Sandy Lane why not spend an evening in Holetown. Holetown has great bars including Lexy’s Piano Bar but don’t expect things to get going until after 12.00. On Sunday night there is a street party when all the locals mix with the visitors and a very special Bajan karaoke takes centre stage. Also on Sunday evening Ragamuffins Restaurant has a most unusual cabaret to entertain you during your meal but remember to make a reservation early as it gets booked up very quickly.
There are numerous restaurants to suit all tastes and wallets details of which can be found inside Saramanda.
Places to visit
Try Speightstown for a flavour of the old Barbados and only 15 minutes drive from Saramanda.
Carry on from Speightstown
and take the road up to the north point of the Island and then down to Bathsheba the views of the Atlantic ocean will take your breath away.
The contrast in weather and scenery could not be more different.
Visit the Mount Gay Rum distillery . The tour is inexpensive and educational and the tasting afterwards will testify to Mount Gays boast of producing the best rum in the world. We could go on ……….
Barbados is only 22miles long but it has plenty to keep the visitor occupied during his stay – unless of course all you want to do is lie on the beach
